Maria got her master degree at the State Academy of Art and Design in St. Petersburg and then studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, at the Kalmar University in Sweden and in the Bornholm glass studio in Denmark. For her work, she was awarded the Jutta Cuny-Franz Foundation Talent Prize in Germany and the Hempels Glaspris in Denmark. She was artist in residecy in many places abroad. As an artist, she went throught various stages – from the optical formal pieces to conceptual works and installations using other material, such as the site-specific installations, interactive sound installation or drawing and assemblages.
